14th Annual Scarecrow Festival 2008

The City of Washington is proud to play host to the annual Scarecrow Festival. The festival is held the first weekend after Labor Day annually. This years dates are September 12, 13, and 14, 2008.

The 2008 Festival will feature  "Dumbfounded" on Friday, September 12 starting at 7:30 P.M.   "Kenyon Lockry and the Freegrazers" and "Jimmy Hensley"  will be appearing on Saturday, September 16 starting at 6:30 P.M.. Also performing will be the "Blue Grass Ramblers", "Michaela Williams".

As the APD is now a member of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions, our festival Queen will be invited to participate in festivals all over the state and we are looking into the possibility of building or having built a float for our Queen to take to other festivals.

Friday, September 12 has been declared Senior Citizen Day and many events are planned with our seniors in mind included bingo, music, food, prizes, cloggers and twirlers.

We will again be holding our Live Scarecrow Contest. Watch for details in the local paper. Also, watch for details on the Scarecrow Decorating Contest that will again be organized by the United Way.

Children’s Events will (as always) take place on the Courthouse lawn and we will be having karaoke again this year. The karaoke may be in a different location this year, please click on the program link below for times and locations.

The APD can be reached through our Coordinator Cheri Pfeifer at 740-335-7514.
