The City of Washington Court House is proud of our downtown historic district and strive to preserve and maintain the integrity of this area for our citizens. Therefore, any change or modification to the exterior of any building (including signage) within the historic district must be approved in advance by the Historic District Review Board. The historic District Review Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. on the second floor of the City Administration Building. All applications must be received by the City of Washington Court House Building/Zoning Department fifteen (15) days in advance of the meeting. The online application includes the required sign criteria and approved fonts for signage. We apologize that the approved color chart is only available at the City of Washington Court House Building/Zoning Department and not available on line at this time. If in doubt as to whether your building is in the historic district, please select this link Historic District Map or the one above for clarification. No permits for signage or any other exterior work on buildings in the Historic District will be approved or issued without approval from the Historic District Review Board.
