Water Treatment Plant
Brief Description of the duties of this
department:
To take untreated and unsafe water and transform
it into a water that is safe for human consumption.
The process by which the water is changed takes
several hours and various additions of chemicals
such as lime, alum, carbon, carbon dioxide, and
chlorine. Filtration is the final step of the
process before the water is pumped to the
customers. It is the responsibility of the
operators to monitor the process visually and by
actual analysis of the water from start to finish
while maintaining the operation 24/7.
Current projects:
We currently are conducting a year long filter
performance study for the Ohio EPA. This study is
intended to have our filtering capacity increased
from 2.0 gallons per minute, per square feet to 4.0
gallons per minute per square feet. This will
increase the plant capacity from 1.5 million gallons
per day to 3.0 million gallons per day.
Goals for the department:
Our main goal each year is to provide to our
customers the highest quality product achievable in
the most economical way. We intend to continue to
comply with all OEPA mandates to ensure the
integrity of our operation. We encourage all
citizens of Washington C.H., to take special
interest in the annual "Consumers Confidence
Report", (CCR), which serves to keep the public
informed about the quality of their drinking water.
